GEOS Language Academy offers English conversation courses primarily for adult learners. We also have children's classes, and corporate classes that usually take place at the client's offices. Classes are typically one hour and a half long, with a maximum of 10 learners per group. We also offer private lessons to students who want to study one-to-one with the teacher. Students can join our lessons any time as there is no semester system, and they usually sign contracts to join a lesson for a five-month term. GEOS also offers a Counseling lesson to allow the teacher to talk individually to students about their progress and also, receive feedback from the students.
In a Taiwanese junior and senior high school where most of our students receive their first exposure to English, students use rote memory to pass tests that measure their reading and writing skills. For those with enthusiasm for studying English, GEOS lessons build on what they have learned and offer them a chance to speak communicatively. All areas of English conversation are developed in lessons that encourage fluency through role-plays, games, pair discussions, and other activities. The teacher's role is primarily to monitor, model, and facilitate, as opposed to "teach".
